Chennai Train Incident : 4 coaches of train derail at Avadi, no casualties reported

Chennai Train Incident: The derailment resulted in immediate delays and changes to the railway schedule. The incident occurred at 5.40 am when Electric train No. 43,606, en route from the Annanur workshop to Beach Margama, entered Avadi Railway Station’s third platform. The derailment took place between platforms three and two.

Chennai, 24 Oct (City Times): (Chennai Train Incident): Four empty coaches of a suburban train derailed at the Chennai’s Avadi railway station on Monday morning, disrupting both local and long-distance trails, including Vande Bharat.

Derailment results in delays and changes

The derailment resulted in immediate delays and changes to the railway schedule.The incident occurred at 5.40 am when Electric train No. 43,606, en route from the Annanur workshop to Beach Margama, entered Avadi Railway Station’s third platform. The derailment took place between platforms three and two.

No casualties or injuries as a result of the incident

Initial reports from Railway Police said there were no casualties or injuries as a result of the incident. But, it caused an immediate halt to trains running between Arakkonam and Chennai. Many trains were held up or rescheduled because of the derailment.

Exact cause of derailment yet to be ascertained
