New Delhi, 04 Oct (City Times): (French honour to Mahatma Gandhi): France has taken upon the task of naming several streets after Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation.
In India, many streets have been named after Mahatma as a matter of great honour to the memory of the great soul. Now, the legacy of Mahatma goes beyond India and many places around the world are glorifying him by naming their streets after him, as a matter of recognising the great legendary political leader who took sincere efforts to propogate the ideas of peace and non-violencve.
On the 154th birth anniversary of Gandhi, an X user François-Xavier Durandy shared a map of France that showed a street, avenue, or square in France named after the Mahatma.
Durandy also shared a video of the inauguration of a street named after Mahatma at Grigny, a commune in southern Paris.
The street was inaugurated on Oct 1 last year by Grigny’s Mayor Philippe Rio and Jawed Ashraf, Ambassador of India to France and Monaco.
Durandy more over shared a similar map of Réunion Island, a French department in the Indian Ocean.
Commenting on these posts, an X user said that India’s most honoured gifts to the world came from the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru which carried the universal appeal.
