10 saal Anyay Kaal : Congress launched ‘Black Paper’ Against Modi Govt

Black Paper-white paper politics : Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has launched the Black Paper, a detailed account of what the party perceives as failures during the 10-year tenure of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre.

Black Paper : New delhi 08 feb 2024 (CITY TIMES). Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has launched the ‘Black Paper,’ a detailed account of what the party perceives as failures during the 10-year tenure of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre. This release coincides with the government’s preparation to present a contrasting ‘White Paper,’ highlighting the economic challenges during the previous Congress-led UPA regime.

Addressing Alleged Failures

Kharge emphasized the Black Paper’s focus on various shortcomings of the BJP government, particularly its handling of unemployment issues. He accused the government of overshadowing its failures in Parliament and stifling opposition voices.

Criticism of PM Modi’s Address

Kharge referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent lengthy response to the Motion of Thanks on President’s Address in the Rajya Sabha. He criticized PM Modi’s omission of discussing employment generation by public sector entities established during Jawaharlal Nehru’s tenure, such as HAL and BHEL.

Kharge expressed concerns over what he perceives as the BJP-led Centre’s discrimination against non-BJP ruled states. He accused the BJP of manipulating political landscapes and undermining democratic principles by allegedly toppling Congress-led state governments.

Government’s Response: Anticipation of the White Paper

Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal confirmed discussions on the upcoming White Paper in the Lok Sabha. The government aims to shed light on the economic conditions inherited from the Congress-led UPA government in 2014, emphasizing the need for transparency.

During the interim budget presentation for 2024-25, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted the Modi government’s efforts in steering the economy towards sustainable growth. She emphasized the challenges faced upon assuming office in 2014 and the subsequent implementation of reforms to restore hope and attract investments.

Setting the Record Straight: The White Paper Initiative

Sitharaman announced the government’s intention to present a White Paper, comparing economic performance pre-2014 with the present scenario. This initiative aims to draw lessons from past mismanagement and reinforce the government’s commitment to inclusive development.

As the budget session progresses, the unveiling of the Black Paper and the impending White Paper serve as crucial milestones in shaping political discourse. While the Black Paper critiques the BJP’s governance, the White Paper aims to provide a comprehensive assessment of economic progress. Ultimately, both documents contribute to a broader understanding of the nation’s journey and the challenges ahead.
