Illegal Activities Near Border : BSF’s Bold Move: Night Curfew Clamps Down on Illegal Activities Along J-K International Border, Restricted Time from 9 pm to 6 am

Srinagar, 09 Jan (City Times) : Illegal Activities Near Border : In a strategic move to fortify border security, Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district has witnessed the imposition of a night curfew along the International Border (IB). This proactive measure aims to enhance the area domination by Border Security Force (BSF) troops and deter illegal activities near the border. District Magistrate Abhishek Sharma issued the order, reflecting a concerted effort to tackle cross-border infiltration and weapon smuggling, particularly during foggy weather conditions along the Indo-Pak border.

Guarding the Frontier

The decision to enforce the night curfew stems from a recent meeting of the district-level standing committee, where BSF authorities emphasized the necessity of such measures. The proposal suggests a daily curfew spanning a one-kilometer strip from the IB, allowing BSF personnel to carry out their duties with heightened effectiveness. This move underscores the gravity of the security situation and the imperative to proactively combat illicit activities plaguing the border region.

Strategic Restrictions

Effectively immediately, civilians are now subject to movement restrictions in the specified zone, from 9 pm to 6 am. Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code has been invoked to legitimize the imposition of the night curfew. The order explicitly prohibits any person or group from moving within the designated one-kilometer area along the International Border during the specified hours. This not only restrains civilian movement but also strengthens BSF’s ability to exercise better control over the border area.

Illegal Activities Near Border : Regulating Border Movement

The District Magistrate, in the order, articulates the importance of regulating movement in border areas. This is deemed essential to ensure enhanced area domination by BSF, thwarting any nefarious designs of elements inimical to Indian security. The order emphasizes that individuals requiring movement during curfew hours must produce valid identification cards to BSF and police authorities. This meticulous approach is vital for both security forces and civilians to maintain order and transparency.

A stern warning accompanies the order, specifying that any person found violating the curfew will face legal consequences in accordance with the law. Given the critical nature of the situation, the order is issued ex-parte, acknowledging the difficulty of serving it individually. The night curfew will remain in force for a period of two months from the date of issuance, unless withdrawn or rescinded earlier.

Conclusion: Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district now stands under the protective umbrella of a night curfew, a testament to the proactive measures taken by authorities to curb illegal activities along the International Border. This bold move not only reinforces the commitment to national security but also reflects a strategic approach to preemptively tackle challenges posed by cross-border elements. As the region adapts to these measures, the focus remains on ensuring the safety and well-being of civilians while fortifying defenses against potential threats.
