Chennai, 29 August (City Times): Sagar Parikrama 8Th Phase: Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, Parshottam Rupala, and Minister of State, Dr L Murugan, are set to inaugurate the eighth phase of Sagar Parikrama on August 31st. This event will take place at Thengapattanam Fishing harbour in Kanyakumari district, marking the commencement of a significant outreach program. The Sagar Parikrama Phase VIII will span four coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, including Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Ramanathapuram.
Exploring Coastal Concerns
Sagar Parikrama 8Th Phase: The Sagar Parikrama Yatra is designed as an outreach effort to engage with the fishing community along the coastal belt. By understanding the concerns, experiences, and aspirations of fishermen, this initiative aims to enhance their livelihood and promote seafood exports. The program also aims to raise awareness about available programs that cater to the needs of fishermen in coastal areas.
Collaborative Participation
Sagar Parikrama 8Th Phase: Union Fisheries Ministers Purushottam Rupala and Minister of State Dr L. Murugan, along with representatives from the State fisheries Department Tamilnadu, District officials, and officials from various governmental bodies such as the National Fisheries Development Board, Indian Coast Guard, Fishery Survey of India, National Institute of Fisheries Post Harvest Technology and Training, and Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical & Engineering Training, will collaborate in the Sagar Parikrama awareness campaign spanning three days.
