Washington, 12 Oct (City Times): (Biden wants Israel to follow rules of war): US President Joe Biden has urged Benjamin Netanyahu to follow the rules of war after the Israeli PM vowed to destroy Hamas following the brutal attack by the Palestinian militants.
This is the first time Biden has called for restraint regarding Israel’s response to the “sheer evil” of the recent Hamas attacks. He also issued a strong warning to Iran, which supports Hamas and Lebanon’s Hezbollah and has a long-standing conflict with both Israel and the United States. Biden says he knows Netanyahu for 40 years
The US president recalled he had known Netanyahu for 40 years and they had a very frank relationship. “And the one thing I did say is that it is really important that Israel abided by the rules of war,” Biden said.

Israel PM vows to destroy the militant group Hamas
The remarks were the first time Biden had made regarding Israel’s response to what he called the “sheer evil” of the Hamas attacks on Saturday. Netanyahu had earlier vowed the complete destruction of the militant group. But Biden also had a stern warning for Iran, which backs Hamas and Lebanon’s Hezbollah, a long-term foe of both Israel and the US.
In his recent speech, Netanyahu openly stated that Israel aims to “eliminate” Hamas after their unexpected attack last Saturday. He compared Hamas to the Islamic State (Daesh) and pledged to defeat them, just like how the world defeated Daesh. Blinken heads to Israel to show US solidarity
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken headed earlier Wednesday to Israel in a show of solidarity with Israel. To support their strong bond with Washington’s nearest Middle East friend, Blinken was set to have a meeting with important Israeli figures, such as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. They plan to talk about increasing military aid. Blinken will also cooperate with U.S. allies in the area to help free over 100 people held by Hamas, according to Israel. Some of them might be American citizens. Fears of a regional conflagration growing in US
While fears have been growing of a regional conflagration, US officials said earlier they still had not seen any intelligence to show Iran was involved in planning the Hamas attacks.
The Hamas assault on Israel has raised fears of domestic attacks in the United States, and compounded concerns of anti-Semitism across the United States.
