Biparjoy effect: storm-rain in the coastal areas of Gujarat-Mumbai; 5 died in Mumbai-Bhuj-Rajkot

20 thousand people evacuated from 7 districts of Gujarat

New Delhi,13 June(City Times): Cyclone Biparjoy brewing in the Arabian Sea is moving towards Gujarat. This storm is going to hit Jakhau Port in Kutch district on the afternoon of 15th June. According to the Meteorological Department, the storm has weakened somewhat on Tuesday, although it is still dangerous. Winds up to 150 km/h are expected when it hits the Gujarat coast on June 15.

Due to the storm, thunderstorms continued in the coastal areas of Gujarat and Mumbai, in which five people have been reported dead. On the other hand, Amit Shah held a meeting with the Ministers of Disaster Management Department of States and Union Territories in Delhi today.

Shah announced 3 big schemes worth Rs 8000 crore for disaster management to deal with Biparjoy cyclone. This includes modernization of fire brigade, flood control and prevention of landslide incidents. After this, the Gujarat government evacuated 20,000 people from 7 districts within 10 km from the coast in Kutch-Saurashtra and sent them to shelter homes.
The storm is 290 km away from Dwarka in Gujarat
According to the Meteorological Department’s update at 9 am on Tuesday, the storm is moving north-west at a speed of 8 km/h. The storm was 300 km from Porbandar, 290 km from Dwarka, 340 km from Jakhou Port, 350 km from Naliya at 5:30 am on Tuesday. According to the Meteorological Department, the cyclone is expected to move north till the morning of June 14, after which it will recurve and move in the north-northeast direction.
Due to Biparjoy, Western Railway has decided to completely cancel 67 trains as a precautionary measure in cyclone prone areas. With this, 25 trains running from Saurashtra’s Okha, Porbandar and Jamnagar will now run from Rajkot, Surendranagar and Ahmedabad.
Two children are also involved in the five deaths in Gujarat and Maharashtra due to the storm, these children are from Bhuj. The wall had fallen on them. A tree fell on a woman in Rajkot. At the same time, four of the five boys who went for a walk on Juhu Beach in Mumbai drowned in the sea. The bodies of two of these have been recovered. two are missing.
