Central Railway Is Enhancing Train Safety: Testing Temperature Monitoring on Suburban Trains

Central Railway Is Enhancing Train Safety; to test temperature sensors on both the traction motor and axle box of a suburban train. This test aims to find any unusual temperatures and potential problems

Mumbai, 13 August(City Times): Central Railway is Enhancing Train Safety, In a move to make train travel safer, a trial is underway to test temperature sensors on both the traction motor and axle box of a suburban train. This test aims to find any unusual temperatures and potential problems, which can help ensure a safer and smoother train service.

Testing Remote Temperature Monitoring:

Central Railway is Enhancing Train Safety, As part of this test, a system that monitors temperatures remotely has been set up on a Siemens Traction Motor in a Suburban Rake at Sanpada Workshop. This new system includes a Temperature Sensor with GPS location capabilities. If the temperature goes beyond certain limits, such as 75℃ to 85℃ considered high and 85℃ & above considered critical, the railway staff will be alerted. This quick notification can help prevent issues like parts moving out of place, ultimately keeping the train running smoothly and safely.

Benefits of Axle Box Temperature Monitoring:

Central Railway is Enhancing Train Safety and it also looks at the temperature of the axle box. It can send alerts in different colors depending on how hot the axle box gets. If it reaches 50°C, an orange alert is sent, and if it reaches 65°C, a red alert is sent. This helps the railway staff take action before the temperature reaches the highest allowed limit of 80°C. By doing this, they can keep passengers safe and the train working well.

Key Features of the System:

This new technology has a few important parts, like temperature sensors on the axle boxes and level sensors in the water tanks. Central Railway is Enhancing Train Safety and The system uses special modules to cover the entire length of the train. It also has a special website where staff can see the information and keep track of everything. Plus, the system uses long-lasting batteries so it can keep working.

Advancing Passenger Safety with New Ideas:

Using this high-tech way to monitor temperatures shows how much the railway cares about keeping passengers safe. By finding and solving temperature problems before they get worse, this test hopes to make train travel even safer and more comfortable for everyone.
