Chennai, 03 November(City Times): Flying Instructors School Platinum Jubilee: Indian Air Force’s Flying Instructors’ School (FIS), located at Air Force Station, Tambaram, is commemorating its 75 years of unwavering service to the nation from today. The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, graces this momentous occasion, joined by a multitude of serving and retired alumni of this prestigious institution.
Heritage Hall Inauguration
On November 3, 2023, the Chief of Air Staff inaugurated the Flying Instructors’ School’s Heritage Hall at Air Force Station, Tambaram. This hall stands as a testament to the rich history of the Flying Instructors’ School, tracing its journey from 1948 to the present day. The school’s evolution, from the legacy Tigermoth aircraft to the cutting-edge Pilatus PC-7, is vividly depicted, offering visitors an immersive Augmented Reality experience of the institution’s 75 illustrious years.
Honouring Our Heroes – Smriti Sthal Inauguration
In memory of the valiant heroes who made the supreme sacrifice for our nation, a Smrithi Sthal was inaugurated by Mrs. Alka Ahuja. This memorial stands as a tribute to the bravery and selflessness of heroes like Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja Vir Chakra, who displayed exceptional courage during Operation ‘Safed Sagar’ in 1999. Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja was not only a part of the prestigious Flying Instructors’ School but also an exemplar of valour. His memory lives on in this sacred space.
