About Jindal Hunting Energy Services Limited
Jindal Hunting Energy Services Limited (JHESL) is a joint venture between Jindal SAW Ltd. and Hunting Energy Services Pte. Ltd. It specializes in manufacturing and supplying premium OCTG, accessories, and related services for the oil and gas industry.
Meeting India’s OCTG Needs Locally
JHESL, a joint venture between Jindal SAW Ltd and US-based Hunting Energy Services, has embarked on a mission to provide India with its very first domestic source of pipes, tubes, and premium connections for the OCTG market. This move eliminates the need for imports, showcasing India’s growing capabilities in the energy sector.
Neeraj Kumar, Group CEO, and Whole-time director, spoke proudly of this achievement during the facility’s inauguration. “We are excited to announce that this facility is the first of its kind in India, designed to serve both domestic and international markets,” he said. “Our initial focus will be to cater to the domestic demand, followed by exports to the Middle East and African countries. Trial operations have already commenced, and we anticipate full-fledged commercial activities by the end of December this year.”
Impressive Capacity and Automation
The new manufacturing facility boasts an impressive annual threading capacity of 70,000 metric tonnes of OCTG, ensuring a steady supply to meet the demands of India’s energy sector. Moreover, the plant’s operations are designed for efficiency and precision, with a strong emphasis on automation.
Once the plant is fully operational, it will provide employment opportunities for approximately 100 skilled workers, further contributing to the local economy.
Sinnar: The Ideal Location
Sinnar was strategically chosen as the location for this groundbreaking facility due to its logistical advantages. Sandip Jadhav, General Manager (Operations) at the Sinnar plant of JHESL, highlighted the significance of Sinnar’s location. “Sinnar’s proximity to the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway, which runs through the region, facilitates the smooth dispatch of export goods via Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) to Middle East and African countries,” he explained. “This expressway is expected to reduce transportation costs from Sinnar to JNPT by nearly 50%.”
A Growing Industrial Hub
Sinnar in Nashik has been rapidly emerging as an industrial hub, primarily because of its strategic positioning between the Shirdi and Nashik airports. The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) is proactively acquiring more land in Sinnar to cater to the surging demands of various industries. Sinnar’s unique advantage lies in its accessibility to two airports within a 60km radius and its direct connection to the Nagpur-Mumbai Expressway.
In a broader context, regions like Varanasi, Mirzapur, and Chandauli are seeing land allocation by UPSIDA for industrial estates, while YEIDA has plans to acquire land for industrial parks in Sector 10. Additionally, RIICO has clarified that the Fintech Park in Jaipur is situated on private land designated for industrial use.
The inauguration of JHESL’s OCTG threading plant is not only a testament to India’s growing self-reliance in critical industries but also a significant step towards meeting the nation’s energy needs effectively and efficiently. This state-of-the-art facility is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the country’s energy future.
