Bangalore, 19 September(City Times): Phase 1 of Yesvantpur Railway Station : The ambitious redevelopment of Yesvantpur Railway Station has entered a new phase, beginning in February 2023. This initial phase focuses on the ‘East Side,’ specifically platform No.1. Here, construction is well underway for a Multi-Level Car Parking structure (G+5) and ramps for an elevated road, including an Arrival/Departure plaza.
Modern Amenities and Green Initiatives
Upon completion, the station will boast separate entry and exit points for vehicles, ensuring smooth traffic flow. But that’s just the start. Yesvantpur will feature a sprawling air concourse spanning 14,800 square meters, rivaling airport waiting lounges. This space will offer a range of conveniences, from food courts to retail shops and business centers. Importantly, the redevelopment aligns with green-building norms, incorporating eco-friendly features like rainwater harvesting, sewage water treatment plants, ample natural light, and energy-efficient LED lighting.
What Lies Ahead ?
After wrapping up Phase 1, which focuses on the ‘East Side,’ the redevelopment project will shift its attention to the ‘West Side’ (metro side). The comprehensive overhaul of Yesvantpur Railway Station is scheduled for completion by July 2025. M/s Girdhari Lal Constructions Pvt Ltd Delhi has been entrusted with this monumental task, which comes at an estimated cost of approximately Rs. 380 crore.
