New Delhi, 17 Oct (City Times): (PM bets big on moon mission): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that India should now aim for ambitious goals of setting up a Bharatiya Antariksha Station (Indian Space Station) by 2035 and sending the first Indian to the Moon And Moon landing by 2040.
PM bets big on moon mission: PM chairs high-level meeting with space officials
He said this while chairing a high-level meeting with Department of Space officials on Gaganyaan, India’s first manned space mission. The huddle taking place days ahead of the first demonstration flight of the Crew Escape Test Vehicle evaluated the mission’s readiness, affirming its launch in 2025.
PM bets big on moon mission: PM presented with an overview of various technologies
The Department of Space presented to the PM a comprehensive overview of the mission, including various technologies developed so far such as human-rated launch vehicles and system qualification. It was noted that around 20 major tests, including 3 unscrewed missions of the Human Rated Launch Vehicle (HLVM3) are planned. Science Minister Jitendra Singh and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman S Somnath. apprised the PM on the latest developments in the space research activities.
Road map for Moon exploration to be developed
The Department of Space under Modi will develop a roadmap for the Moon exploration. It will encompass a series of Chandrayaan missions, the development of a Next Generation Launch Vehicle (NGLV), the construction of a new launch pad, and setting up human-centric Laboratories and associated technologies.(Indian space exploration)
PM wants scientists to work on interplanetary missions
PM Modi also called upon Indian scientists to work towards interplanetary missions that would include a Venus Orbiter Mission and a Mars Lander. The maiden test flight of an unmanned crew module of the Gaganyaan will be launched from Sriharikota on October 21.
India has already achieved the distinction of becoming the first country to touch down on the Moon’s South Pole, after Chandrayaan 3 made a soft landing on the lunar surface on August 23.
