Southern Railway Fortress Check Sets Record with 2nd Highest Earnings; Collected Fines Totalling Rs. 51.8 Lacs

Southern Railway Diwali initiative: Chennai Division’s Diwali Fortress Check achieved remarkable success, registering 2066 cases and securing the second-highest earnings of Rs. 24.64 lakh, emphasizing lawful travel and enhanced passenger services.

Chennai,11 November(City Times):Southern Railway Diwali initiative: Southern Railway’s Chennai Division prioritizes efficient services for rail users, regularly conducting robust ticket checking initiatives. With a focus on ensuring seamless and lawful travel, the Division recently executed a Diwali Fortress Check, a strategic move to discourage ticketless or irregular travel. This drive, led by Shri E. Harikrishnan, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, aimed to enhance the overall passenger experience.

Diwali Fortress Check Highlights

On 10.11.2023, the Chennai Division undertook an extensive Diwali Fortress Check across Dr.MGR Central Railway Station, Chennai Egmore, Mambalam, and Tambaram Railway Stations. The initiative involved a dedicated team of 180 Ticket Checking staff and 16 Railway Protection staff, resulting in the registration of 2066 cases and the collection of fines amounting to Rs.6.42 lakh.

Ensuring Comfortable Journeys

In line with the commitment to bonafide rail users’ comfort, the ticket checking team identified 17 trains with substantial patronage. Approximately 4500 passengers with unreserved tickets were promptly deboarded from reserved coaches, ensuring a safe and hassle-free journey for those with valid reservations.(Record-breaking ticket checking earnings)

Record-Breaking Performance

The ticket checking team achieved a remarkable feat by setting the record for the Highest Ever per Day Earnings. On 09.11.2023, they collected fines totaling Rs. 27.16 lakh, followed by another significant achievement on 10.11.2023, with Rs. 24.64 lakh in fines. This marks the second-highest earnings in the current financial year 2023-2024.(Rail user collaboration success)
