Annamalai’s comments about the late CN Annadurai, a revered figure in Tamil Nadu politics and a mentor to AIADMK’s founder, MG Ramachandran.

Annalamalai’s frequent jibes at both AIADMK and its rival, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), have fueled speculation that the BJP is trying to create political space for itself in a state where it has historically struggled to gain a foothold.
