MIDHANI’s collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) spans over four decades. Their materials have been an integral part of ISRO’s space missions
Hyderabad, 24 August (City Times): Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI), a Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Defence, has played a crucial role in India’s space endeavors, including the upcoming Chandrayaan-3 mission. Established in 1973, MIDHANI has been supporting various sectors, including defence, space, energy, and allied industries, by manufacturing top-quality strategic materials.
MIDHANI’s collaborations:
MIDHANI’s collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) spans over four decades. Their materials have been an integral part of ISRO’s space missions, from its earliest launches to the present day, and will continue to be used in ISRO’s ambitious projects like the Gaganyaan Mission and other future programs.
Chandrayaan-3 is a significant mission for India as it aims to conduct scientific experiments to study the moon’s environment, history, geology, and potential resources. This mission holds the key to uncovering valuable insights about the lunar surface and its potential for future human habitation.

MIDHANI’s contributions:
MIDHANI’s contributions include a range of materials such as Cobalt base alloys, Nickel base alloys, Titanium alloys, Special steels, and Investment castings. These materials have been used in various components of Chandrayaan 3, including LVM3-M4 Liquid engines, Nozzles for liquid stages, Gas bottles, Thrusters, Cryogenic upper stage components, Rocket motor casing, and Propellant tanks that carry Chandrayaan 3 payloads.
Expertise of MIDHANI
The expertise of MIDHANI doesn’t stop there. The special metals and alloys produced by the company are also integral to Chandrayaan 3. Ultra High Strength Steel strips, manufactured by MIDHANI, find their use in the propulsion module of the lander separator band. Additionally, Titanium Rings, bars, and blocks crafted by MIDHANI are vital components for the Rambha and Chaste payloads of the Lander.
With the aim of achieving self-reliance in strategic and critical technologies for the nation, MIDHANI is committed to the AtmaNirbhar Bharat initiative. Their contribution to Chandrayaan-3 underscores their dedication to supporting India’s space exploration and technological advancements.
