The Untimely Demise
Kalaiyarasi, a resident of A S Pettai, indulged in a shawarma meal on the night of September 16. Unfortunately, she suffered severe discomfort the following day. Her family rushed her to a private hospital, but due to staff shortages, she did not receive any treatment. Government Response
Health Minister Ma Subramanian stated that around 200 people had dined at the restaurant on the same day as Kalaiyarasi. Immediate action was taken to identify and hospitalize those affected. Three food samples from the restaurant were sent for testing at a laboratory in Salem. Subsequently, the restaurant was sealed, and its license was revoked.
