76 Railway Stations In Central Railway & 15 Railway Stations in Mumbai will get revitalized, upgraded under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Station upgradation work at three suburban Stations viz Parel, Vikhroli, Kanjurmarg at Mumbai was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister today on 6th August 2023.
Mumbai, 06 August (City Times): Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister launched Amrit Bharat Station Scheme signifying a paradigm shift, promising the transformation of 1309 railway stations nationwide. Central Railway will witness a rejuvenation of 76 stations and 15 within the Mumbai Division of Central Railway will undergo a remarkable upgrade. This holistic initiative aims to reimagine the way Indians perceive travel, bringing about a remarkable enhancement in the quality of services and facilities offered at railway stations, this initiative echoes “As Atal Bihari Vajpayeeji is for Roadways, PM Modiji is for Railways!”.
Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister launching the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to rejuvenate 1309 stations at the cost of Rs. 24,470 crores envision a progressive, phased development approach for railway stations nationwide. Under this scheme, in first phase 508 stations will undergo a systematic transformation, involving the formulation and execution of Master Plans. This comprehensive strategy encompasses various facets, including enhancing station accessibility, upgrading waiting areas, improving hygiene facilities, installing lifts/escalators, ensuring Wi-Fi connectivity, and more. Moreover, the scheme underscores the integration of stations with their surroundings, seamless multimodal transportation integration, provisions for differently-abled individuals, sustainable and eco-friendly solutions, and a heightened focus on passenger inclusivity.
Amongst the 38 stations in Central Railway for which foundation stone was laid for upgradation /redevelopment work, three vital stations are suburban stations from Mumbai – Parel Railway Station at the cost of Rs 19.41 crore, Vikhroli at the cost of Rs 19.16 crore and Kanjurmarg at 27.01 crore. A pivotal highlight of this scheme is the comprehensive redevelopment of 76 Central Railway stations. Spanning Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Bhusawal, and Solapur divisions, these stations will undergo an all-encompassing metamorphosis. The transformation includes aesthetically pleasing station buildings, Swachh Bharat-inspired sewage treatment plants for a cleaner environment, visually appealing platforms adorned with captivating landscaping, upgraded passenger amenities, improved connectivity with additional lifts and escalators, modernized guidance and information systems, refurbishment of administrative spaces, and an unwavering commitment to inclusivity for all passengers including facilities made as Divyangjans friendly.
The launch of Amrit Bharat Station Scheme function of Mumbai Division held at three venues with high dignitaries gracing the function beganed with cultural programme, felicitating the children participated in the essay competition conducted on various Rail development topics.
At Parel Railway colony ground, the function was graced by Shri. Ramesh Bais, Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, Shri. Uday Samant, Hon’ble Minister of Industries, Govt of Maharashtra and Shri Mangal prabhat Lodha, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Women and Child Development, Govt of Maharashtra & Guardian Minister, Mumbai Suburban, Shri Kalidas kolambkar Hon’ble MLA, Shri. Ramesh Patange, Hon’ble Padmashri award winner, Hon’ble Shri Anant Gurav, Freedom fighter of “Goa mukti sangram” and Shri Naresh Lalwani, General Manager, Central Railway.
The function held at Vikhroli was graced by Hon’ble Member of Parliament Shri Manoj kotak, Hon. MLA Shri Parag Shaha and Shri Rajnish Goyal, DRM, Mumbai
At Kanjurmarg, the function was graced by Shri Mukul Jain, Principal Chief Operations Manager and Shri Rajesh Arora, Principal Chief Engineer, Central Railway.
In all three venues the children enthusiastically participated with sparkle in the eyes for transformative Railways in future, as these children penned down there dream of modern railways in the essay competition held at various schools across Mumbai. The 48 winners of this competition (16 children at each location ie. Parel, Vikhroli, Kanjurmarg) were present during the function. At Parel the children were delighted to receive their award of excellence in essay competition from Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra Shri Ramesh Bais ji.
