Guntur-Bibi Nagar Rail Section Rs. 2853 Crore Project Aims to Reduce Congestion and Enhance Connectivity
Chennai,17 August (City Times): The Guntur-Bibi Nagar Rail Section is set for a significant upgrade as the South Central Railway has gained approval for the doubling project. The project, estimated at Rs. 2853 crore, aims to alleviate congestion, improve connectivity, and boost the local economy.DRM Chennai,Vishwanath B. Eerya, held a brief press meet to provide information about the railway projects that were approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA).
The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the 239-kilometer Guntur-Bibi Nagar Rail Section has been presented by the South Central Railway to the Board. This initiative, which is scheduled to be completed by the year 2027-28, is projected to provide direct employment for around 75 lakh man-days during its construction phase.
Currently, the Guntur-Bibi Nagar Rail Section operates as a single line route, causing congestion and leading to delays. Only one pair of trains ply through this route, connecting to Chennai via BB Nagar. With the completion of the doubling project, the length of the section will be reduced by 78 kilometers. This will lead to more efficient travel for passengers, with significant time savings for those traveling to Chennai.
Furthermore, the Guntur-Bibi Nagar Rail Section project is expected to bring economic benefits. The doubling of the line will result in a reduction of freight costs by approximately 3 to 5 lakhs per rake, leading to a boost in the demand for goods transportation, particularly cement products, along this route. The increased capacity will support the movement of goods and contribute to economic growth.
The DPR for the Guntur-Bibi Nagar Rail Section has been submitted to the Board and is pending approval. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has already granted its approval for the project. This step signifies a major leap forward in enhancing rail connectivity and infrastructure in the region.
Improving Railway Connectivity:
A significant railway project is in progress that will bring better connections for travel. The Guntur-Bibi Nagar Rail Section project is creating a 239-kilometer railway route. This is being done to make traveling smoother and faster in a busy part of the Indian Railway. The estimated cost for this project is around Rs 2,853.23 crore. As this project gets built, it will provide jobs to about 75 lakh people during the construction period.
Easing Travel and Creating Jobs:
This project, will make a big difference. It will make operations run more easily and help with the problem of too many trains on the tracks. This is important for one of the busiest parts of the Indian Railway. The Guntur-Bibinagar section connects different parts of India, making travel between the southern, eastern, central, and western parts smoother. It’s the shortest route from Secunderabad to Guntur, and it will also help improve travel between Secunderabad, Guntur, and Vijayawada. So, this project is not only about better travel but also about creating more job opportunities for people.
Guntur-Bibinagar Doubling Project
A significant rail project is underway, aimed at improving connectivity and travel between different parts of India. The Guntur-Bibi Nagar Rail Section doubling project, spanning 239 kilometers, is expected to bring about positive changes. The estimated cost for this project is around Rs 2,853.23 crore. This rail section connects the southern and eastern regions of India, including states like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha, to the central and western parts of India, covering states like Telangana, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.
Shorter Routes and Improved Mobility
One of the remarkable features of this project is that it creates a shorter route from Secunderabad to Guntur/Vijayawada, making travel between these places faster and more efficient. This doubling of the rail section also has the benefit of enhancing mobility between Secunderabad and Guntur/Vijayawada.
Additionally, the Guntur-Bibinagar route offers an alternative path between Secunderabad and Vijayawada, avoiding heavily congested routes via Kazipet, Warangal, and Khammam. The project spans across Guntur and Palnadu districts in Andhra Pradesh and Nalgonda and Yadadadri-Bhuvanagiri districts in Telangana, covering a total area of 23,180.38 square kilometers. Within this region, there are 1,070 villages that are situated near the project area. This rail project holds the potential to improve travel and connectivity while benefiting the regions it spans through.
