Hyderabad, 16 September (City Times): Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge : In the backdrop of what he termed “serious internal challenges” facing the country, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that it was exacerbating the situation through its actions. Speaking at the inaugural meeting of the reconstituted Congress Working Committee (CWC) in Hyderabad, Mr. Kharge expressed concerns about incidents of violence that, he believes, are tarnishing the image of a progressive and secular India.

Demand for Census and Caste Survey
Mr. Kharge made a strong demand for the immediate commencement of the Census process, along with a caste survey. He argued that these steps are essential to secure the rights of deprived sections of society, including access to health, education, employment, and food security.

Highlighting the unity among 27 parties in the INDIA bloc on fundamental issues, the Congress Chief emphasized that the opposition alliance is gearing up to confront what they perceive as an “anti-people and anti-democratic BJP government.”

Mr. Kharge accused the BJP government of resorting to vindictive actions against opposition parties in response to the growing unity among opposition forces.

He raised questions about the intentions behind the upcoming special session of Parliament called by the ruling party.

Mr. Kharge asserted that India is currently at a crossroads, facing numerous internal challenges. He criticized the Narendra Modi government, labeling it as a “complete failure” in various areas. These include controlling inflation, addressing unemployment, curbing violence in Manipur, narrowing economic inequality, and improving the condition of farmers and laborers.

Mr. Kharge pointed out the ongoing tragic events in Manipur and criticized the Modi government for failing to contain the situation. He suggested that the unrest in Manipur had spread to other parts of the country, such as Nuh in Haryana.
