Acting upon credible intelligence, the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Army’s 28 RR launched an operation to intercept two terrorist associates who had acquired a consignment from an unidentified individual in Kupwara. The individuals were tracked as they were en route to the village of Shatmuqam. Their instructions were received from Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Ghulam Rasool, also known as Rafia Rasool, originally from Chandigam Lolab and currently based in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The suspects were apprehended as they attempted to flee the area.

During this operation, a vehicle was intercepted, and a hand grenade was discovered concealed beneath the left front seat.
