Kolkata, 03 September(City Times): TMC Criticizes Udhayanidhi’s Remark : Trinamool Congress (TMC) has taken a firm stance against the recent comments made by Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin regarding ‘Sanatana Dharma.’ The party considers these remarks as deeply unfortunate and has chosen to speak out against them. TMC emphasizes that these comments have no bearing on the INDIA alliance and, therefore, strongly condemns them. TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee Said- No Body Should be Involved in a Matter That Hurts Religious sentiment.

TMC Advocates Secularism and Tolerance

Kunal Ghosh, the spokesperson for TMC, shared the party’s perspective on this matter with news agency PTI. He stressed the significance of a secular structure within society and the importance of fostering tolerance towards all religious beliefs. Ghosh expressed, “We should prefer the secular structure. Param Dharm Sahishnuta (Tolerance is the supreme faith). I am from Hindu dharma, someone from other faiths. We must respect all religions.” TMC has made it clear that they do not endorse Udhayanidhi’s statement and are urging him to reconsider his comment.

Congress Responds to BJP Criticism

In response to criticism from the BJP regarding Udhayanidhi’s statement, the Congress party has affirmed its commitment to respecting all religions and upholding the principle of ‘Sarva Dharma Samabhava’ (respect for all religions).

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal clarified that their ideology promotes the idea of equal respect for all faiths. He emphasized that while the Congress firmly adheres to these principles, political parties have the freedom to express their individual viewpoints. These developments reflect the ongoing discourse surrounding the role of religion in politics and the commitment of different political parties to uphold secularism and religious tolerance within India.
